Book Read So Far in 2013

An Echo in the Darkness by Francine Rivers. Loved. Roman Empire...Christianity...
A Perfect Day by Richard Paul Evans. A story told from the male character's point of view. How success marred his family unil a sort of intervention came along. The end of this had me spinning several times. Quite good.
Serena by Ron Rash...Set in the 1930's Appalachia. Story revolves around a lumber tycoon and his ruthless new wife. The National Park system is a new idea and they aren't pleased. Very good. Will make a good movie, I think.
Letters from Sam to Jennifer by James Patterson. Letters written from a grandmother to her adult grandaughter. Romance, mysteries and love. I enjoyed it.
As Sure as the Dawn by Francine Rivers. Beginning is 79 AD when Christianity was new and the Roman Empire was in full swing. Enjoyed it a great deal.
Secret Daughter by Shilpi Somaya Gowda. A novel that tells the story of an adopted Indian child...her native land, America and how it all relates. Really liked this.
The Christmas Shoes by Donna VanLiere. If you know the song, you know the story. I learned recently that there was a movie and book as well...cried in all three.
7:An Experimental Mutiny Against Excess by Jen Hatmaker. Giving up all but 7 things for a month at a time is not something I will do. It was very interesting and I enjoyed the writing style.
Her Daughter's Dream by Francine Rivers. This is the sequel toHer Mother's Hope. Follows the story of Oma, her daughter, grand and great-grand daughters. How the decisions we make as mothers might have a different outcome than intended. A story of followng God and love. Really enjoyed both books greatly.
Killing Lincoln by Bill O'Reilly and Martin Dugard. Regardless my feelings on the aurthor, this book is fantastic! I knew the bare bones basics and have even been to Ford's Theater but there is so much more I learned. Really an engaging book and one that should be requird reading in high school history class
